NEWS FROM OUR CONGREGATION
CHRISTMAS CONCERT St Stephen's Choir, St Stephen's Community Choir and Inverness Royal Academy are holding their Christmas Concert on Tuesday the 20th of December in the Cathedral at 7.30pm. The tickets are £5 adults and £2 for children. Details from Joan Darcy.
THE OLD HIGH GIVING TREE The unfailingly generous response of the congregation has resulted in a heartwarming number of gifts for those at the Homeless shelter. Alex Gilchrist, the manager,is very grateful for the support given at this time of year, which for some is sadly so difficult. Thank you all very much. Diana Fraser
ST STEPHEN’S GIVING TREE - Grateful thanks for the great generosity of our congregation, some who took more than one label, in thinking of others who may only receive at Christmas time those gifts donated by our people. This is a very Christian thought, when many of us have so much for ourselves, to consider unselfishly those in need, virtually on our doorstep. These presents are really welcomed in places of need and the staff who distribute them are most appreciative.Cliff Sim.
RECORDINGS OF SERVICES After some technical difficulties in recent weeks we once more have the CD recordings of the St Stephen's services available. Last Sunday's is already available, and we should have them for all Sundays from now on. Recordings can be picked up from The Olive Grove from the Tuesday after each service. If you know of someone who would like a recording, please do take a CD. It would also be useful if could you let the minister know you are taking a CD for someone, or if you would like a CD delivered to you..
MEN'S GROUP The next meeting will take place on Wednesday the 11 January at 7.30pm. Andy Pyott has agreed to speak about his work in Indonesia with the Christian Blind Mission, and in addition has kindly offered to host the meeting in his house. Feel free to invite along someone you've met in the pews or someone from outside the congregation. Please see David Anderson, Iain Todd or Ian Rudd for more information.
OLD HIGH FLOWERS volunteers are needed for the flower rota for next year. Details from Biddy MacBean .
ST STEPHEN’S CHOIR CD “Revelation” is available now Christmas wrapped for you to purchase at no extra cost for £7.50. Contact Joan Darcy
ST STEPHEN’S GARDEN gives a lot of pleasure to our congregation and to passers by and it is thanks to all who take great care of looking after it. The triangle plot of garden has many Roses that have been planted in memory of loved ones but unfortunately are in need of replacement. If you would like to donate some money to go towards this please put your donation in an envelope marked Garden in the offering bag in the next week or contact Joan Darcy
TREASURER VACANCY Alan Nelson has tendered his resignation as Treasurer with effect from the end of March 2012. We are now looking for someone to take over this very important role and if you are familiar with figures, PAYE and basic book-keeping you could be just the person to assist the congregation in the role. Help will be provided with year end accounts. We are pleased to say that Alan has indicated his will continue as Chairman of the Congregational Board Informal enquiries should be made to Alan.
